Common questions
How do I join a group?
Ask someone in the group for its 6-character invite code. In Couch Buddies, tap Join with code, type the code and tap Join. You’ll see the group, its games and scores straight away.
How do I start a group and invite someone?
Tap Create group, give it a name, then share the group’s invite code with the people you want to play with. Anyone with the code can join, so share it only with people you know.
Do we need one phone each?
Yes, that’s the fun of it. Every player uses their own iPhone with Couch Buddies installed, whether you’re on the same couch or in different cities.
Do I need an email address or password?
No. You just pick a name and make your Couch Buddy. Your iPhone remembers you with a private sign-in token.
How do I change my name or buddy?
Open Settings in the app. You can edit your name and rebuild your buddy whenever you like.
I’m not getting notifications
Check that notifications are on for Couch Buddies in your iPhone’s Settings → Notifications, and in the notification options in the app’s Settings. Focus modes can also hold notifications back.
How do I leave a group?
Open the group and choose Leave group. If you’re the last one in it, the group and all its games and scores are deleted.
How do I report someone?
Open the group, tap their buddy and choose Report, then pick what’s wrong. They won’t know it was you, and we look at every report within 24 hours. Afterwards you can leave the group, or if you run it, remove and block them. You can also email us.
How do I delete my account?
Open Settings in the app and choose Delete account. This deletes your profile, removes you from all your groups and erases what you created in games, like your drawings and answers. See the privacy policy for details.
Is Couch Buddies OK for kids?
Couch Buddies is rated 16+ on the App Store, because Wiki Race lets you browse Wikipedia. There are no ads, no tracking and no chatting with strangers. Groups are private and joined only by invite code.
